After nap time!

After naptime our translator came back with us making sure we knew how to get into the orphanage and how to "pick her up" from Maya's section. We played inside for a bit and then went outside to play. Our translator kind of backed up and let us interact with Maya while she took care of other business. We really started to see Maya open up. We played with the doll, chased the ball around, played soccer, and just threw the ball and ran to get it. We started seeing laughter and her eyes!

When we went back inside we were shown a small room that we could play in. It is actually part of an apartment that is in the orphanage. When we come back we will stay in the orphanage with Maya so that she slowly gets used to being with us all day - yet in an environment that she is comfortable with. We found some musical instruments in the toys and we used those to involve her in dancing and making music. When she made "music" Matt would dance and make funny faces. When she stopped he would freeze. This was hilarious to her. We even got her to have her doll, Mimi dance when Matt made music. She would kind of dance. We had a great afternoon and we think we really connected with her.
