We called the orphanage again and got the director and Maya. The orphanage director was very nice and let us know that Maya was doing well. She said that now when Maya looks at the picture book we left her she asks over and over where we are. That is just crushing because we want to be there now and there is no way a three year old understands that we can't come until the government/judge says we can come. The director assured us that she would be talking to the judge early next week and they should have some information very shortly. So we wait. (Do you see a theme emerging? After three years you would think we would be used to waiting, but when you are so close it is hard to wait patiently).

The director also told us about the "Children's Day" celebration last week. In Poland, they celebrate children's day on June 1st. She said it was a wonderful celebration with ice cream and lots of balloons for the kids. They had a great time and sang songs and danced to music. I've read some other posts from parents describing the "Children's Day" celebrations and it sounds like the kids have a great time.

I started packing for the trip and am trying to figure out if little girls in Poland wear shorts in the summer (away from the beach and the pool). Everytime we saw Maya she had on a dress and stockings. I don't know if that was because it was still spring and a bit chilly or that is just customary. And is there such a thing as summer stockings?

Mason has gone on a DisneyCruise with his grandparents, aunt and uncle, and cousins. He is hoping to go from one trip immediately to another to go get his sister. Right before the cruise took off he called to tell me that his "kids club counselor" is from Poland and she is going to teach him Polish during the week so that he is ready to go meet his sister. My guess is that he will have a good time.
