This morning Alissa was explaining to me that our fish (in a little pond out back) were "hibernating because there was snow and ice. They are at the bottom warm and cozy. Worms hibernate also in the ground. Frogs hibernate when it is freezing cold."
Hard to believe the word "hibernate" has entered her vocabulary. Just 1.5 years ago she didn't speak, didn't understand that color existed and now she is explaining hibernation to us. WOW!
FYI - the ears on the b-day cake were made out of caramel.

Oh I love that little story. Warm and cozy! Stories like this remind time that it WILL be worth the wait!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet story!! Way to go Alissa!
ReplyDeleteToo cute!! I love it when the younger ones use "big" words appropriately! That birthday cake is adorable :)
ReplyDeleteOh that reminds me of New Year's eve. We took the kids to watch the fireworks. Came back at 1am. As my youngest (a little over 5) took off his coat he said, "daddy, we're like nocturnal people!"
ReplyDeleteYup, same as your kid - a non-verbal child for two years since we adopted, only started talking in full sentences four months ago, and now uses words like nocturnal and KNOWS what it is!
They are all little sponges. What a smarty you have on your hands!
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing how quickly they pick it up!
ReplyDeleteWish Austin was closer to Houston, would love to get together for coffee while you're there, but it's a 2 1/2-3 hr drive. Hope the conference goes well.
This is so great! Alissa you Rock!
ReplyDeleteAwesome!
